He is a Great Instructor and a great person to be around which made my training not feel like a school but just another day with a friend who has great knowledge in aviation. I dont know of anywhere else that someone can learn in that short of time and feel as confident and as proficient as I do with the instruction. Excellent! I met Gil in Van Nuys and dove straight into review and training completion and was finished in 9 days. It has been a wonderful learning experience working with Rubin for 10 busy days. It was much easier than driving and I felt calm and relaxed talking to ATC. Tom was extremely friendly to get to know, as well. I started flight training 17 years ago and never finished, much to my regret. He worked diligently to teach the content and develop the necessary flying skills. I left jazzed about moving forward to getting instrument rated and I have applied to a local flight club, met several pilots that own planes in my home airport and am actively working on getting a hanger and my own bird, which is way harder than you might imagine. Finally, my wife Lisa was my biggest supporter and got me through struggles with boundless encouragement. Gil was very easy to get along with and had great teaching abilities. I met with my instructor, Gil, three hours after I landed. I am now a private pilot and I could not be happier with the experience I had with AFIT! but with Johns dedication, expertise, and drive, I can formally say I have arrived, over the finish line! Erwin constantly challenged me to give me the best odds to passing my check ride when the day came. My flight instructor, Oleg, pushed me harder than I expected and the first few days seemed overwhelming until all of a sudden it didnt. My instructor Paul helped me understand the concepts easily, always making himself available whenever I had questions after class. Together you made the entire process seamless and enjoyable. I really felt like hisand my main goal, everyday for 14 days, was to get me to pass the exam. Its 100% worth it. Each flight hour was taken seriously, and each maneuver was an opportunity to learn something and work on technique. My actual flight experience the first day I showed up was nothing, I mean nothing, I had only rode in a few small planes in my life I had never touched a control or a radio. Ive had some flight training prior to taking the AFIT course but the skills erosion associated with being a weekend warrior, at the mercy of inclement weather, prevented me from seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
